Unit 13 and 14 Devising in the Physical Style of Rash Dance Theatre Company
Creating a Duet Through Improvisation Using the Words 'Over, Under, Through'
Laying Dramatic Intention onto the Duet Exploring the Relationship of Victim and Oppressor
Analysis of Devising in the Physical Theatre Style of Rash Dash
From this lesson, I learnt how we can use non verbal communication to show the relationship between the characters and their manipulation of one another. It was interesting to improvise without using dialogue while still keeping the victim/manipulator relationship and helped to build on my improvisation skills as a whole. I feel that this use of non verbal communication really helped to add to the meaning of the piece and its dramatic intention.
i really enjoyed the using levels and actions to show the levels of power between the two characters and I loved trying to find ways to show the changes in the power dynamic and the struggle of power between the two characters. I also liked being able to experiment with different movements and having the freedom to create all the movements ourselves, however this was something I found quite challenging to begin with as it was a little daunting on having an almost blank canvas on the movements we could make.
