Elements Of Feedback and Improvement of Rob's Jazz Dance
Things I Need To Improve On
I felt that I really needed to solidify the movements before anything else, as I feel that once I do this, I can focus on making the movements more stylised and add some character to them. This would also make me look more confident as a dancer and could go a long way to improving my grade for the unit if I show a great deal of improvement.
After doing this, I want to begin working on what emotions I would like to portray in the dance and how I would incorporate these emotions into the dance itself. Whether this is making the movements more rigid with a more angry facial expression to create a more violent feeling with the dance, or making the movements slower with a more sombre facial expression to give the piece a more sad feel.
Feedback From Rob
One of the biggest things that was discussed was the idea of dancing in a way that doesn't rigidly follow the time signature. Ensuring that the movements are still in time with the music however, being followed up in such quick succession with another movement, for example extending a movement that would usually only last for a single count to instead go on for two.
Something that we were all reminded of was the importance of keeping our feet pointed at all times. This is something that is incredibly important within Jazz dance.
It was also highlighted how it would be beneficial for me to make my movements more open. If I do this, it would make me look more confident with the dance and add more character to the movements, this should in turn show a great level of improvement in my dancing and highlighted my growth in confidence.
